(50) Academy of the Arts, Easton, Maryland, Inc., AS TO PROP-
ERTY USED PRIMARILY FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE OR-
GANIZATION, BUT NOT AS TO PROPERTY USED PRIMARILY
FOR REVENUE OR INCOME-PRODUCING PURPOSES.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 367

(Senate Bill 173)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 624 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Venue, Procedure and
Sentence", sub-heading "Process Against Corporations, etc., in
Criminal Cases", to authorize summons to issue and to be served
against a corporation in criminal cases brought by any State's
Attorney in the State for any violations of law, and correcting an
erroneous reference in this Section.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 624 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Venue,
Procedure and Sentence", sub-heading "Process Against Corpora-
tions, etc., in Criminal Cases", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

624.

When any indictment shall be found or information filed by the
Attorney-General in this State for violation of its laws against any
corporation, joint stock company or association incorporated under
its laws, or laws against any corporation not incorporated under its
laws, but deemed to hold and exercise franchises herein, or any joint
stock company or association doing business in this State, or indict-
ment found or information filed by any State's Attorney in the State
for violation of any State-wide or local laws,
it shall and may be
lawful for the Attorney-General or prosecuting attorney for the
State, or any State's Attorney to cause a summons or notice to be
directed to the said corporation, joint stock company or association,
in its corporate name, to appear at the said court to answer to such
indictment or information, and such process may be served in the
same manner as provided for service of process in civil suits men-
tioned in [Sections 411 and 412 of Article 23 of Poe's Code of Public
General Laws of 1904, entitled "Corporations", sub-title "Process"]
Section 96 of Article 23 of this Code, as amended from time to time.
