AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 10 of
Article 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes", sub-title "Legal Holi-
days", amending the laws concerning the optional closing of bank-
ing institutions on Saturdays in order to eliminate a present ex-
ception for Queen Anne's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 10 of Article 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes", sub-
title "Legal Holidays", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
10.
It shall be lawful for any banking institution as defined in Article
11 of the Annotated Code of Maryland to remain closed on any one
or more or all Saturdays, as it may by resolution of its board of
directors determine, from time to time. Any Saturday on which any
banking institution shall remain closed in accordance with the pro-
visions of this section shall, as to such banking institution, constitute
a legal holiday within the meaning of such term as used in and for
all purposes of Section 9 of this article. Interest on any bill of ex-
change, draft or promissory note presentable for payment on any
Saturday on which such banking institution shall remain closed in
accordance with the provisions of this section shall be computed down
to and including any such Saturday only, provided such bill of ex-
change, draft or promissory note is presented on the next succeeding
secular day.
[The provisions of this section shall not apply to Queen Anne's
County.]
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 212 of
Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "St. Mary's County", sub-title "Taxicabs", relating
to applications for taxicab licenses in St. Mary's County and pro-
viding certain fees for said licenses.
