CHAPTER 2
(House Bill 82)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners of
Wicomico County to borrow upon the faith and credit of Wicomico
County the amount of One Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars
($1,600,000.00), and to issue and sell coupon bonds therefore, the
proceeds thereof to be used by the Board of County Commissioners
of Wicomico County and the Board of Education of Wicomico
County, for the construction of, completing the construction of,
making additions and improvements to and equipping school
buildings and grounds in Wicomico County, Maryland, and to
authorize the levying of taxes for the payment of the principal
of said bonds and interest thereon; to provide for the formation
of a Wicomico County School Building Commission, to advise with
the County Commissioners of Wicomico County and the Board of
Education of Wicomico County regarding the expenditure of the
proceeds of the bonds hereby authorized to be sold and the carry-
ing out of the provisions of this act; and providing that the pro-
visions of this act shall be separable.
Whereas, the County Commissioners of Wicomico County and
the Board of Education of Wicomico County desire to construct
additional school buildings and/or make additions to existing school
buildings in Wicomico County at an approximate cost of Two Mil-
lion Dollars ($2,000,000.00), and
Whereas, it is anticipated that the said contemplated improve-
ments will be made during the fiscal years 1961-62 and 1962-63 and
that during said years, there will be available from the School In-
centive Fund, for such purposes, the sum of Four Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($400,000.00), to be used for the purposes herein set forth,
thereby reducing to One Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars
($1,600,000.00), the amount required in additional funds to construct
the projects hereinafter mentioned, and provided further, that said
available Incentive Fund monies as aforesaid, are devoted to said
projects.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That for the purpose of: (1) constructing a new Junior High School
on East College Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland, at a cost not to ex-
ceed One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,500,000.00),
including cost of construction, architect fees and equipment; (2)
constructing an addition to the Salisbury High School, located on
Morris Avenue, near Salisbury, Maryland, including the enclosing
of the existing breezeways at said school at a cost not to exceed One
Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00), including cost of
construction, architect fees and equipment; (3) constructing an ad-
ditional unit similar to other units previously constructed at the
Beaver Run School, located on U. S. Route 50, East of Salisbury,
Maryland, at a cost not to exceed One Hundred Thousand Dollars
