ers", sub-heading "Disposal of Trash", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
57.
The County Commissioners shall, within three months after June 1,
1959, set aside [two] three separate areas of land in Charles Coun-
ty to be used for the purpose of a dump and shall employ such per-
sons, at salaries to be fixed by said Commissioners, as are deemed
necessary to effectuate the disposal of trash in said County. Lands
suitable for such use may be acquired by purchase, condemnation or
otherwise and the County Commissioners are hereby authorized and
empowered to levy an amount sufficient to cover the cost of said ac-
quisition.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO
HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME SHALL
TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 37 and
38 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1959
Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Charles County", sub-title "County Commissioners",
to change the compensation of the County Commissioners of
Charles County and to provide for reimbursement for certain
expenses incurred by the Commissioners.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 37 and 38 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles
County (1959 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Charles County", sub-title "County Com-
missioners", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(a) The County Commissioners of Charles County shall receive
an annual compensation of [$2,400] $3,000 each [, said compensa-
tion shall be] for their services as such Commissioners [and the
Commissioners shall be allowed no mileage]. Said Commissioners
shall be in their offices for the transaction of business on Tuesday
and Wednesday of each week, excluding legal holidays.
