Whereas, Maryland-Delaware have passed complementary acts
enabling the two states to cooperate with each other and with the
U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in reestablishing and restoring the
north-south line between the two states; and
Whereas, the bicentennial of the Mason and Dixon Survey over-
laps the centennial of the Civil War; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
of Maryland be and he is hereby requested to confer with the Gov-
ernor of Delaware and the Director of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic
Survey for the purpose of making plans to provide funds to reestab-
lish the north-south line between Maryland and Delaware so that the
two states may combine in the repair and restoration of the Mason
and Dixon markers thereon; and be it further
Resolved, That the Governor of Maryland be and he is hereby re-
quested to confer with the Governor of Delaware, the Governor of
Pennsylvania and the Postmaster General of the United States on the
preperation of a first class postage stamp commemorating the bicen-
tennial of the Mason and Dixon Surveys; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Governor of Delaware, the Governor of Pennsylvania, the Postmaster
General of the United States and to each member of Congress from
Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
