House Joint Resolution expressing the regrets of the General As-
sembly of Maryland over the untimely passing of the Honorable
John J. Sandier, Secretary of the Senate of the State of New
York.
The members of the General Assembly of Maryland learned with
the deepest regret of the untimely passing of the Honorable John J.
Sandier, Secretary of the Senate of the State of New York.
Mr. Sandier had served in the position for a number of years and
performed exacting and arduous duties with industry and fidelity.
He filled an important post in the government of the great Empire
State.
He also was a key figure in the National Conference of State
Legislative Leaders, having been selected as both the temporary
and permanent Secretary-Treasurer of this vital organization.
Mr. Sandier was a friendly, agreeable and trusted associate of lit-
erally thousands of persons in New York State and throughout the
country. In his passing, his own State and the National Conference
of State Legislative Leaders have lost a sincere and devoted public
servant, who will be long remembered and deeply mourned; now,
therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the deepest
regrets of this body be expressed over the untimely passing of the
Honorable John J. Sandier, Secretary of the Senate of the State of
New York; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be requested
to send copies of this Resolution under the Great Seal of the State
of Maryland to Mrs. John J. Sandier, in care of the Governor of
New York, to the Senate of the State of New York, and to the Na-
tional Conference of State Legislative Leaders.

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor of Maryland to
appoint a Commission to study the problem of physical fitness
of Maryland youth and to make specific recommendations to the
Governor, to the State Board of Education, and to the General
Assembly as to how the general level of physical fitness of our
young men and women in Maryland can be raised.
