CHAPTER 900
(House Bill 747)

AN ACT to add a new section 53A to Article 2B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1960 Supplement), title
"Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "General Provisions on Issue of
Licenses", to follow immediately after Section 53 of the said
Article, relating to the issuance and use of an off sale license in
Prince George's County where the holder limits or restricts sale of
alcoholic beverages to a specific group or limited membership.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and is hereby added to Article 2B of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1960 Supplement), title
"Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "General Provisions on Issue of
Licenses" said new Section to be known as Section 53A, to follow im-
mediately after Section 53 thereof, and to read as follows:

53APrince George's CountyIn Prince George's County, an off
sale license of any class shall not be issued, or if issued shall not be
used, where the license applicant, or holder, proposes or in fact
restricts the sale of alcoholic beverages to any specific group or
limited membership. If after issuance of such a license, the holder
conducts his business for the sale of alcoholic beverages to a specific
group or limited membership, it shall be the duty of such license
holder to report such fact to the Board, within thirty days of the
commencement of operation of such business in such manner, and
to surrender to the Board the license theretofore issued.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared

to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-

vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a

yea and nay vote, supported by three fifths of the members of the
two houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1961.
