of the County Commissioners, will make general hospital facilities
available to residents of northern Anne Arundel County; to au-
thorize and empower the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County to provide said contributions by borrowing, upon the faith
and credit of said County, a sum not exceeding $800,000.00 and to
issue 30-year 4 per cent bonds as evidence of said loan to be known
as "Anne Arundel General Hospital Bonds of 1961", the proceeds
to be derived therefrom to be used for part of the cost of erecting
an addition and alterations, improvement and enlargement to Anne
Arundel General Hospital and for erecting and furnishing a new
hospital which, in the judgment of the County Commissioners, will
make general hospital facilities available to residents of northern
Anne Arundel County; to provide for the repayment of said bonds
and the interest thereon by a general tax levy against all of the
taxable property within the County; and to provide for appoint-
ment of two members of the Board of County Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County to the Board of Managers of Annapolis
Emergency Hospital Association and two persons to the Board
of Managers of any such hospital making general hospital facilities
available to residents of northern Anne Arundel County AND IM-
POSING CERTAIN CONDITIONS UPON THE ISSUE OF ANY
SUCH BONDS.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to raise, contribute and de-
liver to the Board of Managers of The Annapolis Emergency Hospital
Association, Inc., a Maryland corporation operating Anne Arundel
General Hospital, at Annapolis, a sum not exceeding $400,000.00 to
be used and applied by said corporation exclusively for the purpose
of defraying in part the cost of financing the erection of an addition
and alterations, improvements and enlargement to said Hospital; the
same to be accomplished by the issue and sale of bonds upon the full
faith and credit of Anne Arundel County in the manner and upon the
terms and conditions hereinafter set forth; provided that The An-
napolis Emergency Hospital Association, Inc., shall, at a special or
regular meeting held before the issuance of the said bonds, have
amended its By-Laws so as to provide for the appointment by the
Board of County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County of two of
its members to the Board of Managers of said Association, said ap-
pointments to run concurrently with the terms of office of said
appointed Commissioners; provided, further, that the right of ap-
pointment of said two members shall continue for as long as any
bonds of this issue shall be outstanding.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said County Commis-
sioners ark further authorized and empowered to raise, contribute
and deliver toward the cost of constructing and furnishing a hospital
which, in the judgment of the County Commissioners, will make
general hospital facilities available to residents of northern Anne
Arundel County, the sum of $400,000.00, or any part thereof, at any
time within ten years from the effective date of this Act. Said money
shall be obtained as provided in Section 1 hereinabove, and subject
to a similar condition for providing that the said County Commis-
sioners shall appoint two persons to the Board of Managers of the
said new hospital.
