of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "General Local Laws", sub-heading "Waters and Sewers",
to follow immediately after Section 22-79 thereof, providing that
the Anne Arundel County Sanitary Commission shall give notice
of and conduct public hearings on proposed modifications of rates,
charges, levies or assessments, providing for appeals to the Public
Service Commission of Maryland by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County and persons financially in-
terested in such modifications, and relating generally to said modi-
fications and appeals thereon.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 22-79A be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article 2
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "General Local Laws", sub-heading "Waters and
Sewers", to follow immediately after Section 22-79 thereof, and to
read as follows:

22-79 A.

Whenever the Commission shall, in the exercise of its power under
this sub-title to establish rates, charges, levies or assessments for its
services, determine that any modification of an existing rate, charge,
levy or assessment previously established by the Commission shall be
necessary or desirable, the Commission shall promptly thereafter
give notice of the proposed modification, such notice to be given
promptly in at least two newspapers printed and published in Anne
Arundel County and shall thereafter conduct public hearings on the
necessity or advisability of such proposed modification of rates,
charges, levies, or assessments.

The Public Service Commission of Maryland shall determine upon
appeal, the reasonableness of all assessments, tax levies or service
charges, as in the case of public service corporations, upon the written
complaint of any one financially interested therein, or upon the writ-
ten complaint of the Board of County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County under such regulations as said Public Service Commission
may from time to time order or provide. All appeals shall be taken
within thirty (30) days from the date of the promulgation or levy
of any such assessment, tax levy or service charge by said Sanitary
Commission.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
