Commissioners of Charles County shall serve as attorney to the
Board of License Commissioners and to specify his salary.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 155 (j) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Boards
of License Commissioners", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
155(j).
In Charles County the chairman of the board shall receive an
annual salary of $400.00, and the two associate members an annual
salary of $300.00 each. The board shall appoint a clerk, who shall
receive an annual salary of $400.00; [an attorney who shall receive
an annual salary of $600.00;] and the board shall have authority to
expend annually such additional sum or sums as may be necessary,
not exceeding $250.00, to cover other expenses. The attorney to the
County Commissioners shall serve as the attorney to the Board, and
for such service shall receive an annual salary of $800.00.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

(House Bill 461)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 49 (a)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supple-
ment), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "General Provisions
on Issue of Licenses", to remove requirements that the Charles
County Board of County Commissioners must approve or confirm
certain alcoholic beverage licenses applied for or issued in the
county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 (a) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1960 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Gen-
eral Provisions on Issue of Licenses", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
49 (a).
In Charles County, when application for a liquor license is made
to sell alcoholic beverages in a building which is not completed, the
Charles County liquor board [and County Commissioners] may give
tentative approval of the application on the basis of plans and specifi-
cations accompanying the application. Upon completion of the build-
ing in accordance with the aforesaid plans and specifications, the
liquor board may give final approval of the application. [Any new
license approved by the board after June 1, 1953, shall not be issued
unless confirmed by the County Commissioners of Charles County.]
