Nothing contained in Sections 492 or 522 of this article shall be
construed to prohibit or make unlawful the exhibition within the
boundaries of Carroll County of motion pictures between the hours
of 2 P.M. and [6] 11 11:30 P.M. [and after 9 P.M.] on the first day of
the week, commonly called Sunday, whether the same be exhibited with
or without a charge or admission fee, provided, however, that such
exhibition shall be subject to all provisions of law relating to licensing
and censorship applicable to motion picture exhibitions on week days.
The work or employment of any operator, ticket seller or any other
employees or attendants in connection with any such exhibition of
motion pictures shall not be unlawful because performed on Sundays.
Any exhibition of motion pictures on Sundays, except as hereby
authorized, shall be unlawful and subject to the provisions and pen-
alties of said Sections 492 and 522 of this article.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 526 and 527 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", be and they
are hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 691
(House Bill 860
AN ACT to repeal Section 38 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
sub-title "Conspiracy", and to enact new Section 38 in lieu thereof
to stand in the place and stead of the Section so repealed, pro-
viding that the punishment for the crime of conspiracy shall not
exceed the maximum punishment provided for the offense the
convicted conspired to commit.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Con-
spiracy", be and is hereby repealed and that new Section 38 be and
is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to stand in the place and stead of the
Section so repealed to read as follows:
38.
The punishment of every person convicted of the crime of con-
spiracy shall not exceed the maximum punishment provided for the
offense he or she conspired to commit.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
