37. [(a)] The County Commissioners of Charles County shall
receive an annual compensation of $2,400 each, said compensation
shall be for their services as such Commissioners and the Commis-
sioners shall be allowed no mileage. Said Commissioners shall be in
their offices for the transaction of business on Tuesday and Wednes-
day of each week, excluding legal holidays.

[(b) The County Commissioners of Charles County shall each
receive two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) per year as compen-
sation for their services as members of the County Roads Board for
Charles County.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 623

(Senate Bill 491)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 715 (b)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supple-
ment), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters and Clams",
and to add new Section 715B to said article and code to follow im-
mediately after Section 715A thereof, relating generally to the
taking of soft shell clams within the tidal waters of St. Mary's
County but excluding the tributary waters of the Chesapeake Bay
and Patuxent River and all waters of the Potomac River.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 715 (b) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1960 Supplement), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters
and Clams", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

715(b).

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to take,
catch or dredge soft shell clams (mya arenaria) from any county
waters of Somerset [,] and Charles [and St. Mary's] counties by the
use of any hydraulic or mechanical dredges. Any such person, firm or
corporation so doing shall, upon conviction thereof before any justice
of the peace, be fined $500.00 and costs.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That new Section 715B be and
it is hereby added to said article and code to follow immediately after
Section 715 A thereof, and to read as follows:

715B.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to take or catch soft shell
