C H A P.
LXI.

Real eftate
vefted, &c.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That all that part
of the real eftate of the faid James Hickley, which by the faid act of affembly ,
was intended to be vefted in the faid Samuel Hickley, deceafed, may be and is
hereby vefted in the faid Mary Anne Hickley, Robert Hickley and Thomas
Hickley, and their heirs for ever, as tenants in common, fhare and fhare alike ;
and that all that part of the perfonal eftate of the faid James Hickley, which by
the faid act of affembly was intended to be vefted in the faid Samuel Hickley,
may be and is hereby vefted in the faid Sarah Hickley, his mother, and the faid
Mary Anne Hickley, Robert Hickley and Thomas Hickley, to be equally
divided between them, fhare and fhare alike, in fuch manner as the fame would
have defcended to them refpectively had the faid Samuel Hickley died after the
faid act of affembly had been fully eftablifhed.

Preamble.

C H A P. LXII.
An ACT to relinquifh the right of this ftate to the land therein
mentioned.
WHEREAS it appears to this general affembly, that heretofore patent
did iffue to Lancelot Jacques, then of Frederick county, for the fol-
lowing tract of land, lying to the weftward of Fort Cumberland, in
Allegany county, to wit: The Grove Camp, and doubts exift as to the validity
of the fame: And whereas the faid Lancelot Jacques has paid the compofition
money and fees of office on faid tract of land, and has been in poffeffion of the
fame for many years, and it is reafonable and juft that the ftate fhould relinquish
her right to the fame;

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the right of
this ftate of, in and to the following tract of land, to wit: The Grove Camp,
lying to the weftward of Fort Cumberland, in Allegany county, be and the fame
is hereby releafed and confirmed to the faid Lancelot Jacques, his heirs, legal re-
prefentalives, or affigns; and any right or title acquired to faid land by contract,
bargain, fale or conveyance, from, by or through the original patentee, his heirs,
or his legal reprefentatives or affigns, fhall be good and effectual in law to all
intents and purposes; provided nevertheless, that nothing in this act contained
fhall in any manner operate to affect the right of any perfon or perfons heretofore
acquired to the whole or any part of faid tract of land.

C H A P. LXIII.
An ACT relating to the public roads in Talbot county,

WHEREAS the prefent modes of repairing the public roads in Talbot
county are found by experience to be expenfive, and inadequate to
the purpofes intended, and are unequal in their operation; and it has
been found neceffary that proper regulations fhould forthwith be made for keep-
ing the roads of the faid county in due repair; therefore,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the juftices of
the peace for the county aforefaid, or a majority of them, be and they are hereby
authorifed and required to meet together on the firft Monday of April next, and
on the fame day in every year thereafter, at the court-houfe in the faid county,
and when fo met together, the faid juftices, or a majority of them, fhall be and
they are hereby authorised and required to defcribe, afcertain, and diftinctly re-
cord in a well bound book to be provided by them for that purpofe, the feveral
and refpective reads and public highways in Talbot county, and to nominate and
appoint capable and judicious perfons as overfeers of the feveral and refpective
loads aforefaid, according to the number and divifions of the faid roads, as the
fame fhall be afcertained upon their records; provided neverthelefs, that the faid
roads fhall be fo apportioned, divided and defcribed, as not to require a greater
number of overfeers than five in any one hundred of the faid county; and that
the faid juftices, or a majority of them, may adjourn from day to day until the
faid roads fhall be duly afcertained, and overfeers appointed as aforefaid.
