CHAPTER 21
(Senate Bill 36)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 293 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Fish and Fisheries", sub-head-
ing "Part 2. Tidal Waters", under the caption "Legal Size of Cer-
tain Fish", relating generally to the legal size of white and yellow
perch.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 293 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Fish and Fish-
eries", sub-heading "Part 2. Tidal Waters", under the caption "Legal
Size of Certain Fish", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

293.

No person shall catch or in any manner take or kill, sell, offer to
buy or sell or expose for sale, or have in possession any bass, large or
small mouth, less than 10 inches; any catfish less than 8 inches; any
perch, white or yellow, less than [8] 7 inches, IF TAKEN OR
CAUGHT IN ANY MANNER OTHER THAN BY HOOK OR
LINE; any pike less than 14 inches; any rock, otherwise known as
striped bass, less than 12 inches in length or weighing more than 15
pounds, it shall be lawful, however, in the Susquehanna River above
Hog Back Shoals to catch striped bass weighing more than fifteen
(15) pounds, provided said striped bass so taken are caught only
with a hook and line and not sold or offered for sale; any sturgeon
weighing less than 25 pounds, any taylor or bluefish less than 8
inches; any sea trout or weakfish less than 10 inches; any hardheads
or croakers less than 10 inches; any butterfish less than 6 inches;
measurement in the case of each fish shall be from the tip of the
nose to the end of the caudal fin or tail.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.
