years. Thereafter as terms expire, all appointments shall be for four
years. Every appointment is for the period indicated, or until a suc-
cessor is appointed and qualifies. Vacancies for any cause shall be
filled by the '[Governors] Governor for the unexpired term, and each
such appointee shall possess the qualifications required of members
of the Commission from the particular area for which the vacancy
occurred.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

CHAPTER 16
(Senate Bill 27)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1 (g) of
Article 31B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1961 Supple-
ment), title "Defective Delinquents", sub-title "Patuxent Institu-
tion", correcting an error in a law relating to members of the
Board of Patuxent Institution and of the Advisory Board thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1 (g) of Article SIB of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land i(1961 Supplement), title "Defective Delinquents", sub-title
"Patuxent Institution", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

1 (g). (1) No member of said board, or the advisory board
hereinafter created, or any officer, member of the staff or employee
of Patuxent Institution shall be directly or indirectly concerned or
interested in any contract, purchase or sale made, on the recommen-
dation of said board, or shall accept any reward or gift or any
promise of any reward or gift directly or indirectly from any person
interested in any contract, purchase or sale made on the recommen-
dation of said board, and every member of said board and every offi-
cer, member of the staff or employee of Patuxent Institution shall
make report to said board of all such offenses coming to his
knowledge.

(2) No member of said board, or of the advisory board herein-
after created, or any officer, member of the staff or employee of
Patuxent Institution, shall accept any reward or gift, or any promise
of reward or gift, from any inmate in said Institution, or from any-
one on his behalf, or shall receive any devise or bequest, or any
promise of devise or bequest, from any such inmate, or from any
person on his behalf, or shall enter into any contract with any such
inmate, or with any person on his behalf. All such gifts, rewards,
bequests, devises, promises and contracts shall be void.
