SEC. 9. NOTHING IN THIS ACT IS TO BE CONSTRUED
AS CHANGING THE STATUS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AS THE STATE AGENCY OFFI-
CIALLY DESIGNATED BY THE GOVERNOR TO IMPLEMENT
AND COORDINATE STATE LEVEL ACTIVITIES UNDER PUB-
LIC LAW 87-27, THE AREA REDEVELOPMENT ACT.

SEC. 8. 10. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1962.

CHAPTER 127
(Senate Bill 131)

AN ACT to authorize the State Department of Public Welfare to
acquire by purchase or condemnation certain real properties lying
in Baltimore County adjacent to the Montrose School for Girls,
which properties are needed for the expansion of the facilities of
the Montrose School for Girls and being more particularly de-
scribed herein.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the State Department of Public Welfare is authorized and em-
powered to acquire by purchase or condemnation certain real prop-
erties lying in Baltimore County adjacent to the Montrose School
for Girls. These properties are needed to protect and assure a suffi-
cient water supply for the Montrose School for Girls, The properties
are more particularly described as being a tract of land comprising
approximately eighty-five (85) acres more or less, adjacent to the
southwest boundary line of the present property of the Montrose
School for Girls.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.
