work done and volume handled by the office, it being the intent of
this section that each register of wills shall receive a fair and ade-
quate compensation for the effort and duties required of him by his
office and the volume and character of work done by him as register
of wills in relation to the salary fixed by the Board of Public Works
for each of the other registers of wills in this State.

-f(d) The Register of Wills of Baltimore City shall be entitled
to receive a salary of NOT LESS THAN $12, 000. 003- AND NOT
MORE THAN $15, 000. 00 $13, 000. 00.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to change the salary of any register of wills
who is in office on July 1, 1962, for or during the remainder of the
term in which he then is serving.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1962.
