SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 8 of Chapter 86
of the Acts of 1960 is amended to the extent necessary to renew
the provisions thereof for a period of two years from the effective
date of the present Act with respect to the changes herein made
for the Military Department and with respect to the item for the
University of Maryland in Section 5 (O) (2) in the amount of
$1, 450, 000, appearing on page 239 of Chapter 86 of the Laws of
1960, relating to the third step in the acquisition of land for ex-
pansion of the Baltimore campus.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

(House Bill 177)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 3 (5)
and 9 (7) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1961 Supplement), title "Pensions", sub-title "In General", to
change provisions of the State Employees' Retirement System
giving elected and appointed officials of the State including desk
officers and employees of the General Assembly credit for previous
service rendered by them to the State or participating municipal
corporations, to provide for payment of the contributions due
on account of such previous service, and to provide for the effect
on benefits and payments due to such officials under the pension
laws.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 3 (5) and 9 (7) of Article 73B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1961 Supplement), title "Pensions, " sub-title
"In General, " be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
