payments to Physicians, Den-
tists, Pharmacists, Hospitals and
Nurses, for Medical Care to in-
digent and/or medically indigent
persons in the Counties and Bal-

this estimate may be made avail-
able by approved budget amend-

All or part of this appropriation
may be transferred to the State
Department of Public Welfare
by approved budget amendment
in order for the State to be eligi-
ble to receive Federal matching
funds for medical care in the
event that the Board of Public
Works deems such action to be
desirable; further, all or any por-
tion of this appropriation may
be used for such matching pur-
poses; and in the event such a
transfer of this appropriation
from the State Department of
Health to the State Department
of Public Welfare is made, the
Board of Public Works shall ap-
prove a plan for continuing the
programs of Medical Care under
the provisions of Article 43, Sec-
tions 42 and 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, 1957 Edition.
Of the total General Fund ap-
propriations for this program,
$2,517,158 $2,304,458 is for pay-
ment for regular services for
residents of Baltimore City and
$2,151,266 $1,947,266 is for
payment for regular services
for residents of the Counties and
$275,761 is for Statewide special
services to nursing home pa-
tients. This distribution of funds
between the program for Balti-
more City and the program for
Counties and the program for
Statewide special services to
nursing home patients may be
adjusted upon recommendation
of the Commissioner of Health
and the approval of the Governor.
