(b) If such a certified statement is not filed with the petition, the
Secretary of State shall treat the petition as invalid and shall not
certify the question of the referendum to the several boards of

169E. In the enforcement of Sections 169 to 169E, inclusive, of
this sub-title, each separate violation and the invalidity or impro-
priety of each individual signature is a separate offense, punishable
under the general penalties provided in Section 199 of this Article;
and also punishable (if the offense warrants) under the laws con-
cerning perjury.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 432 (c)
of Article 81 of the ANNOTATED Code of Maryland (1961 Sup-
plement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State Tobacco Tax
Act", sub-heading "Exemptions", extending the exemption from
the State Tobacco Tax to sales of cigarettes to Army, Air Force,
Navy or Coast Guard commissaries.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 432 (c) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1961 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State
Tobacco Tax Act", sub-heading "Exemptions", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
432.
(c) The tax hereby levied shall not apply to cigarettes which are
held in the State of Maryland for sale to Army, Air Force, Navy or
Coast Guard exchanges and commissaries.
