of the Barrett School for Girls are transferred to and may be used
by the Montrose School for Girls so long as the transfer and use are
within the general purposes of the original appropriation; and all
assets and liabilities and properties of the Barrett School for Girls
are transferred to and for the general purposes of Montrose School
for Girls.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That all references to the
Barrett School for Girls in the laws, rules and regulations, books of
account, ordinances and resolutions of this State and of its several
departments, boards and other agencies, and of the several political
subdivisions thereof are changed to and hereafter are to be construed
as references to Montrose School for Girls.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
April 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 38

(Senate Bill 72)

AN ACT to add a new Section 39B to Article 88A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1961 Supplement), title
"State Department of Public Welfare", sub-title "Maryland Chil-
dren's Center", to follow immediately after Section 39A thereof, and
to change the said sub-title to "Maryland Children's Center and
Southern Regional Detention MARYLAND CHILDREN'S Cen-
ter" authorizing the State Department of Public Welfare to estab-
lish, maintain and operate a facility to be known as the Southern
Regional Detention MARYLAND CHILDREN'S Center, making
provision for the Advisory Board thereof, and relating generally
to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the Southern
Regional Detention MARYLAND CHILDREN'S Center, to the
care and custody of certain children therein, and to payments and
tax levies by the several Counties and Baltimore City for such
care.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 39B be and it is hereby added to Article 88A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1961 Supple-
ment), to follow immediately after Section 39A thereof, and that
said sub-title be and it is hereby changed to "Maryland Children's
Center and Southern Regional Detention MARYLAND CHIL-
DREN'S Center", and all to read as follows:

Maryland Children's Center and Southern Regional Detention
MARYLAND CHILDREN'S Center.

(a) The State Department of Public Welfare, within the annual
appropriations therefor, may establish, maintain and operate a fa-
cility to be known as the Southern Regional Detention
