Senate Resolution No. 5—By the President:
Senate Resolution expressing the hearty good wishes of the Senate
for the speedy recovery of Judge James J. Lindsay of Baltimore
County.
The members of the Senate of Maryland have been distressed to
learn of the illness of Judge James J. Lindsay of Baltimore County
who is a patient in Mercy Hospital in Baltimore.
Judge Lindsay has had a long and active career in the political
and legal life of the State of Maryland. He has served as a Dele-
gate from his county in the House of Delegates of Maryland and
later became the Senator from Baltimore County in the Senate
of Maryland culminating in his election as President of the Senate.
A few years ago Judge Lindsay climaxed a brilliant career at the
Bar by receiving an appointment as a Judge of the Circuit Court
for Baltimore County. In this position he has served with ability
and distinction.
During Judge Lindsay's illness the Bench and Bar are without
the services of an able Judge and of an outstanding citizen. Every
member of the Senate of Maryland joins in best good wishes for
his speedy recovery; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the sincere good wishes of the Senate of Maryland
be expressed to Judge James J. Lindsay of Baltimore County for a
rapid recovery from his present illness; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to send
a copy of this Resolution to Judge Lindsay in Mercy Hospital.

Senate Resolution expressing best good wishes for the speedy re-
covery of Mrs. Elizabeth Sanford, wife of Senator John L. San-
ford, Jr.
The members of the Senate of Maryland have learned with much
regret of the illness of Mrs. Elizabeth Sanford, wife of Senator John
L. Sanford, Jr. Mrs. Sanford is a patient in Peninsula General
Hospital is Salisbury.
During Senator Sanford's service in the Senate of Maryland, Mrs.
Sanford has been a familiar and beloved figure. She has attended
many of our sessions and has taken a deep interest in the progress
and workings of the legislative process in Maryland.
The members of the Senate wish her a speedy recovery in order
that she may resume her accustomed place in the Senate chamber
during the deliberations of this body; now, therefore
Be it resolved by the Senate of Maryland, That the hearty good
wishes of the Senate be expressed to Mrs. Elizabeth Sanford, wife of
Senator John L. Sanford, Jr., for her speedy recovery; and
Be it further resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be re-
quested to send a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Elizabeth Sanford,
in Peninsula General Hospital, Salisbury.
