CHAPTER 12
(House Bill 4)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2 of
Chapter 593 of the Acts of 1951 as said section was amended by
Chapter 137 of the Acts of 1959 and by Chapter 739 of the Acts
of 1961, amending the law which concerns a contribution by the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County toward the cost
of general hospital facilities available to residents of Northern
Anne Arundel County in order to remove therefrom a proviso
which requires at least equal contributions by the particular hos-
pital involved before the Board of County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County sells the bonds authorized under said Acts; AND
TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ANNE
ARUNDEL COUNTY TO CONTRIBUTE TO AND FOR THE
USE OF THE ANNE ARUNDEL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN
THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS A SUM NOT EXCEEDING
$600, 000., AND TO ISSUE BONDS THEREFOR, IN ORDER
TO FINANCE IN PART A NEW ADDITION, EQUIPMENT
AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALTERATIONS AND IM-
PROVEMENTS TO SAID HOSPITAL.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 2 of Chapter 593 of the Acts of 1951 as said section
was amended by Chapter 137 of the Acts of 1959 and by Chapter 739
of the Acts of 1961, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

The said County Commissioners are further authorized and em-
powered to raise, contribute and deliver toward the cost of construct-
ing and furnishing a hospital which, in the judgment of the County
Commissioners, will make general hospital facilities available to
residents of Northern Anne Arundel County, the sum of $600, 000. 00,
or any part thereof, at any time within ten years from June 1, 1961.
Said money shall be obtained as provided in Section 1 hereinabove,
and subject to a similar condition for providing that the said County
Commissioners shall appoint two persons to the Board of Managers
of the said new hospital. [Provided, however, that no portion of
the bonds authorized under this Act shall be sold unless and until
the particular hospital involved has secured by contributions or other-
wise, a sum of money at least equal to the amount of bonds then
proposed to be sold. A certification shall be made to the Board of
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County that at least this
required sum of money is deposited in some bank or trust company
in Anne Arundel County for the purpose of providing an equal and
matching sum on the part of the particular hospital, prior to the
issue of and sale of any such bonds. ]
