cember 28.

Preamble.

C H A P. XXXI.
An ACT to empower John Seney and Robert Seney, adminiftra-
tors of Jonathan Seney, to collect the balances due to Jonathan
Seney as fheriff and collector of Queen-Anne's county.

WHEREAS John Seney and Robert Seney, adminiftrators of Jonathan
Seney, late fheriff and collector of Queen-Anne's county, deceafed,
by their petition to this general affembly have fet forth, that by an
act paffed at November feffion, in the year of our Lord feventeen hundred and
ninety-two, the faid Jonathan Seney was empowered, at any time before the firft
day of Auguft then next following, to collect all balances due to him as fheriff
and collector in the fame manner as he could or might have done whilft he was
fheriff and collector; that fhortly after the paffage of the faid act, to wit, on the
twenty-fifth day of March laft, the faid Jonathan Seney died, before the relief
intended by the aforefaid act could be attained, and that confiderable fums of mo-
ney, due for the building of a new court-houfe and gaol in the faid county, and for
officers fees, ftill remain uncollected, and prayed that an act might be paffed, au-
thorifing them to colled all balances due as aforefaid, in the fame manner as the
faid Jonathan Seney might have done while he was fheriff and collector as afore-
faid; and it appearing to this general affembly that the fads ftated in the faid
petition are true, and the prayer thereof reafonable,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the faid John
Seney and Robert Seney be and they are hereby authorifed to demand, colled and
receive, all balances and fums of money which were due to the faid Jonathan Se-
ney, at the time of his death, on account of taxes or officers fees as aforefaid, at
any time before the tenth day of December, feventeen hundred and ninety-four,
in the fame manner as the faid Jonathan Seney could or might have done while
he was fheriff and collector as aforefaid.

And apply the
monies, &c.

III. And be it enacted, That the faid John Seney and Robert Seney fhall be
and they are hereby directed to apply the monies by them collected and received for
lawyers and officers fees, and for county rates or taxes, in virtue of this ad, to
the payment of balances due from the faid Jonathan Seney on the above account,
and the furplus, if any, retain in their hands, to be accounted for as admi-
niftrators of the faid Jonathan.

CHAP. XXXII.
An ACT to lay off and open two roads in Allegany county.

WHEREAS fundry inhabitants of Allegany county have petitioned this
general affembly for laying off and opening two public roads, the
one to begin where the main road from Clarkfburgh (by the way of
the Horfefhoe Bottom,) ends at the Maryland line, near one John Goff's mill,
from thence by the moft convenient direction to interfect the ftate's road leading to
the mouth of Savage river; the other road to begin where a road from the town
of Salem in Virginia ends at the Maryland line, from thence by the moft conve-
nient direction to interfect the ftate's road leading to the mouth of Savage river ;
and the prayer of the faid petitioners appearing to this general affembly to be rea-
fonable,

Commiffion-
ers appointed,
&c.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That John Goff,
Peter Achart and Abraham Woodring, or any two of them, be and they are
hereby appointed commiffioners, to lay oft and open the road to begin where the
main road from Clarkfburgh (by the way of the Horfefhoe Bottom,) ends at the
Maryland line, near one John Goff's mill, from thence by the moft convenient
direction to interfect the ftate's road leading to the mouth of Savage river.

III. And be it enacted, That Abraham Woodring, Jacob Redenhover and
Thomas Rinehart, or any two of them, be and they are hereby declared com-
miffioners, to lay off and open the road to begin where a road from the town of
Salem, in Virginia, ends at the Maryland line, from thence by the moft conve-
