of Identification, and from time to time may re-assign the said member
or members back to duty with the regular police force and may
designate other members of the police force to be members of the
Bureau of Identification.

423.

(c) The Chief of Police [shall] may assign [not more than five
(5)] members of the police force to serve as members of the Detec-
tive Bureau, and from time to time may reassign the said member
or members back to duty with the regular police force and may
designate other members of the police force to be members of the
Detective Bureau.

431. The [County Commissioners] Board of Police Examiners of
Anne Arundel County are hereby authorized to appoint such number
of "Special Officers", as they may deem necessary for the proper
protection of waterfront communities and developments, places of
public amusement or recreation, and places of business, located in
Anne Arundel County. The jurisdiction of each of said "Special
Officers" shall be confined to such community or development, places
of public amusement or recreation, and places of business in Anne
Arundel County, and for such period of time, as the [County Com-
missioners] Board of Police Examiners may designate. Each of said
"Special Officers" shall before assuming his duties and before taking
his oath of office, give to the [County Commissioners] Board of
Police Examiners
of Anne Arundel County and file with the Clerk
of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County corporate bond, or
personal bond signed and executed by at least three (3) owners of
real property in Anne Arundel County, which said bond shall be
in the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) and shall be
subject to the approval of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne
Arundel County and shall be conditioned upon the proper and faithful
performance of the duties of said "Special Officers". No "Special
Officer" shall hereafter be appointed in Anne Arundel County, save
in accordance with the provisions of this sub-title, provided, however,
that nothing in the provisions of this sub-title shall apply or be taken
to apply to the Sixth Election District of Anne Arundel County or
to the appointment or method of appointment of any officer, police-
man or constable in said Sixth Election District of Anne Arundel
County.

(a)  All "Special Officers" may be paid for their services by the
community, development, places of public amusement or recreation,
places of business, or operators thereof.

(b)   All "Special Officers" appointed by the [County Commis-
sioners] Board of Police Examiners of Anne Arundel County shall
have all of the powers possessed by Sheriffs of the State of Maryland
under the general law of the State, or the local laws of Anne Arundel
County, in so far as such powers are in reference to the criminal
jurisdiction of said sheriffs in making arrests, or in any manner
enforcing the law or laws of the State of Maryland.

(c)  No special officer shall wear any uniform which is not plainly
distinguishable from that prescribed for the regular county police
force.

(d)  The Board of Police Examiners of Anne Arundel County are
hereby authorized and directed to make rules and regulations as may
