of this Article when such bus actually halts for the purpose of
taking on or discharging children, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and shall upon conviction be fined not less than [five dollars ($5.00)
nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).] fifteen dollars ($15.00) nor
more than one hundred dollars ($100.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 311
(House Bill 100)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Garrett County (1957 Edition,
being Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Garrett County", sub-title "County Commissioners", relating
to compensation for and office hours of Clerks of County Commis-
sioners for Garrett County. AND RELATING GENERALLY
TO CLERICAL ASSISTANTS TO THE COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS THEREOF.

Section 1. Be in enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 70 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Garrett County
(1957 Edition, being Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Garrett County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

70. The County Commissioners shall appoint a Clerk who shall hold
his office for two years from the date of his appointment and until
the qualification of his successor. He shall be subject to removal
from said office for inefficiency or for any willful neglect of duty
or misbehavior in office, at any time, by said County Commissioners
who shall have power to appoint some competent person for the un-
expired term of said Clerk so removed, and said County Commis-
sioners shall be the sole judge as to the inefficiency or willful neglect
of duty or misbehavior of said Clerk. Said Clerk, before entering
upon the duties of his office, shall give bond to the State of Mary-
land in the penalty of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), to be ap-
proved by the County Commissioners, conditioned for the faithful
performance of the duties of his office, which bond shall be recorded
in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Garrett County,
and shall take and subscribe, before one of the County Commis-
sioners, an oath that he will honestly and faithfully, to the best of
his skill and judgment, execute the duties of said office. The said
Clerk shall be in charge of the office of the County Commissioners,
