303C. The County Commissioners of Dorchester County are here-
by authorized and directed to levy annually an amount not exceeding
[fourteen thousand two hundred and fifty dollars ($14,250.00)]
fifteen thousand two hundred and fifty dollars ($15,250.00) on the
assessable property of said Dorchester County. Before the County
Commissioners shall be required to pay the moneys levied for the
purposes of this sub-title to the respective fire companies, the said
Commissioners shall have the power to require the officers of said
fire companies to appear before them and to show to the satisfaction
of said Commissioners that any sums of money paid by the said
Commissioners to the said fire companies under this sub-title have
been expended for the purposes, set forth in this sub-title and also
that said respective fire companies are active fire fighting organ-
izations. In the event any of the fire companies hereinbefore men-
tioned cease to remain active fire fighting organizations, or have not
used the moneys appropriated to them for the sole purposes set forth
in this sub-title, then the County Commissioners are authorized and
directed to allocate such unexpended funds to the Contingent fund
of Dorchester County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959. JANUARY 1, 1960.

CHAPTER 32

(Senate Bill 108)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 6 and 44
of Article 59 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1958 Supple-
ment) , title "Lunatics and Insane", sub-titles "Lunatic or Insane
Paupers" and "Department of Mental Hygiene", correcting errors
in previous enactments of the General Assembly concerning the
Department of Mental Hygiene and institutions under the juris-
diction of the Department of Mental Hygiene.

Whereas, In Chapter 9 of the Acts of the Special Session of 1958
there were errors in the re-enactment of Sections 6 and 44 of Article
59 of the Code relating to the Department of Mental Hygiene; and

Whereas, It is desirable that these errors be corrected in order
that the laws may be accurate; now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 6 and 44 of Article 59 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1958 Supplement), title "Lunatics and Insane", sub-titles "Lu-
natic or Insane Paupers" and "Department of Mental Hygiene", be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and
to read as follows:
