(Senate Bill 104)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 83 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Harford County (1957 Edition, be-
ing Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland) title
"Assessments", sub-title "Building Permits Required", increasing
the minimum value of building to be constructed when permit is
required; setting PERMITTING reasonable fee for permit; and
correcting an error of omission by adding the word "Court" after
the word Circuit.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 83 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford County
(1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Assessments", sub-title "Building Permits Re-
quired", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
83.
Hereafter no building or structure of any kind whatsoever ex-
ceeding in value [One Hundred] Two ONE Hundred and Fifty
Dollars shall be erected or constructed in Harford County, without a
permit in writing, obtained from the office of the County Commis-
sioners of Harford County. Any contractor or owner who is about to
erect or construct any new building or structure, or who is about to
construct any addition to any existing building, in said County, under
the provisions of this section, must first apply, verbally or in writing
to the office of the said Commissioners, giving a general description
of the said proposed building or addition and the location, together
with the contemplated value thereof, and obtain said permit, for which
[no] a reasonable fee shall MAY be charged by said Commissioners.
Any person or corporation failing to comply with the provisions of
this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof before a magistrate or the Circuit Court for Harford County,
shall be fined not more than Twenty-five Dollars.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
