RESULTS OF REFERENDUM VOTES

Constitutional Amendments

Annapolis, Maryland

Proclamation Declaring the Results of the Election
of November 4, 1958, for Constitutional Amendments

Whereas, the General Assembly of Maryland at its regular Session
of 1957, enacted two Acts to wit: Chapter 416, relating to the salary
of any appointed public officer of the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore being increased or decreased at any time; and Chapter
522, relating to filling the vacancies in the offices of State's Attor-
neys; and

Whereas, the General Assembly of Maryland at its 1958 Session
enacted Chapter 97, relating to abolishing the Office of State Li-
brarian; and

Whereas, the said above recited Acts and each of them, provide
for the submission of the same to the legal and qualified voters of
the State for their adoption or rejection, at the election to be held on
November 4, 1958; and

Whereas, at the election on the day and date above set forth, the
said Acts and each of them were so submitted to the legal and quali-
fied voters of the State and from the certified copies the returns
thereof, duly filed with me as directed by the Constitution of the
State, it appears that:

For the adoption of Chapter 416, aforesaid 132,425 votes were
cast, and against the adoption thereof 125,864 votes were cast;
and

For the adoption of Chapter 522, aforesaid 183,706 votes were
cast; and against the adoption thereof 76,111 votes were cast;
and

For the adoption of Chapter 97, aforesaid 175,544 votes were
cast; and against adoption thereof 82,428 votes were cast; and
