J. MILLARD TAWES, GOVERNOR 1479
VETOES
TITLES AND MESSAGES
Senate Bill No. 29—Erosion Laws
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 163 (b)
of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "County Commissioners", sub-title "Erosion", correcting
errors in the cross-references contained in the law relating to the
issue of bonds and notes to provide funds for the purchase and
condemnation of property under the Erosion Act.
May 5, 1959.
The Honorable George W. Della
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, Maryland
Dear Mr. President:
As is necessary under Article II, Section 17, of the Constitution
of Maryland in all cases where I have exercised my constitutional
right of veto, I am returning to you Senate Bill No. 29, vetoed by
me today.
During the recent session of the General Assembly, two bills were
introduced in the Senate, both amending Section 163 (b) of Article
25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, 1957 Edition. Both of these
bills corrected a cross reference to section numbers therein.
I have recently been advised by the Attorney General's office that
the subject matter covered in Senate Bill No. 29 is also covered in
Senate Bill 141, and that to sign both of these bills would serve only
as a duplication of the correction of cross references to such num-
bers. Senate Bill No. 141 has already been signed by me, and is
Chapter 41 of the 1959 Laws of Maryland.
Since it is now unnecessary to sign Senate Bill No. 29 to accomplish
the purpose for which it was intended, I am vetoing the same and
returning it to your body.
Sincerely yours,
(s) J. MILLARD TAWES,
JMT/S/db Governor.
Senate Bill No. 161—Real Estate Brokers
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, sub-sections (a)
and (r) of Section 224 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Licenses", sub-title "Real Estate
Brokers", to empower the Commission to suspend or revoke a
license where the licensee is guilty of certain specified acts, either
principal or agent.
