AREAS BY THE DEVELOPER FOR RECREATIONAL PUR-
POSES, AND SUCH PAYMENTS SHALL BE HELD IN ESCROW
AND USED BY THE COUNCIL FOR THE PURPOSE OF AC-
QUIRING PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS AND SHALL BE USED
FOR THIS PURPOSE AND NO OTHER.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 49 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 5. County Board of
Education", relating to expenses of the County Board of Education
in Worcester County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 5.
County Board of Education", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
49. Meetings; officers; compensation and expenses.
The county board of education shall hold an annual meeting each
year on the second Tuesday in May, or as near as possible thereto
in May, except that in Montgomery County such annual meeting shall
be held on or before the tenth day of January in each year. At this
meeting the board shall elect one of its members to serve as president
and one to serve as vice president. Other regular meetings shall be
held at least once in each school term, and such special meetings
may be held as the duties and business of the board may require.
The members of the county boards of education shall receive no
salary, but each member shall receive the sum of one hundred dollars
annually for traveling and other expenses incident to attending the
meetings and transacting the business of the board within the county,
provided, however, that in Howard County each member of the Board
of Education shall receive annually the sum of two hundred dollars
for such traveling and other expenses. In Charles County, each mem-
ber of the County Board of Education shall receive compensation at
the rate of two hundred fifty dollars annually, and in Allegany County
