(f) All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this
section are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency, ex-
cepting, however, those relating to the authority of the State Board
of Health and specifically set forth in Article 43 of the Annotated
Code (1951 Edition).
(g) Any individual, firm or PRIVATE corporation failing to com-
ply with the provisions of this Act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than $500.00. No
conviction hereunder shall in any manner relieve any person of the
necessity of securing and paying for a permit and complying with all
other applicable provisions of this Act.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 61A of
Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supp.
SUPPLEMENT, AS SAID SECTION WAS AMENDED BY
CHAPTER 34 OF THE ACTS OF 1957), title "Licenses", sub-title
"Traders", requiring a special retailer's cigarette license to be
issued by the Clerk of the Court for the County, or the Court of
Common Pleas of Baltimore City, and the division of the fee thereof.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 61A of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supp. SUPPLEMENT, AS SAID SECTION WAS AMENDED
BY CHAPTER 34 OF THE ACTS OF 1957), title "Licenses", sub-
title "Traders", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
61A. No person shall engage in the business of selling cigarettes
at retail as defined by Article 83, Section 115B (f) except vending
machine operators as defined in Section 115B (d) of Article 83, with-
out a special annual license [from the Comptroller] to be issued by
the Clerk of any Circuit Court for any County, or by the Clerk of the
Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City, where said business is
located, which shall be in addition to any other license required by
law. The fee for such special license shall be $2.50 per year. The
license shall expire on the thirtieth day of April in each year. A
separate license shall be required for each place of business, tempo-
rary or permanent. "Place of business" means any place or places
which are under one roof or in a single edifice and are occupied and
