the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Alcoholic
Beverages", sub-title "General Provisions on Issue of Licenses", to
read as follows:

Section 64 (f) Prince George's County. If any application for a
license in Prince George's County is refused, no further application
for a license for the same premises shall he made until a period of
six months shall expire from the date of such refusal. This sub-
section shall not apply in the case of applications rejected because of
a legal defect or omission in the application.;
OR IF SUCH REFUSAL
WAS SOLELY DIRECTED AGAINST THE PERSON OR PER-
SONS APPLYING FOR THE PRIOR LICENSE, AND EXPRESS-
LY STATED AS THE REASON FOR REFUSAL, AND NOT
AGAINST THE PREMISES IN QUESTION.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 549
(House Bill 248)

AN ACT to add new Sections 174A and 174B to Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes and
Punishments", to follow immediately after Section 174 thereof
and to be under the new sub-title "False Statements", making it a
misdemeanor to make or to cause to be made certain false state-
ments, reports or complaints to peace officers, police officers,
officials and agencies of the State or of any political subdivision
thereof, and providing penalties for violations of said new sections.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 174A and 174B be, and they are hereby added to
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Crimes and
Punishments", to follow immediately after Section 174 thereof, to be
under the new sub-title "False Statements", and to read as follows:

False Statements

174A. Any person who makes a false statement, report or com-
plaint, or who causes a false statement, report or complaint to he
made, to any peace or police officer of this State, or of any county,
city or other political subdivision of this State, knowing the same,
or any material part thereof, to be false and with intent to deceive
or
AND with intent to cause an investigation or other action to be
taken as a result thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction shall be subject to a fine of not more than Five Hun-
dred Dollars ($500.00), or be imprisoned not more than six (6)
months, or he both fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the court.
