AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 19 (a) of
Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1955 Supple-
ment), title "Corporations—Municipal", sub-title "Home Rule",
sub-heading "Annexation", providing that the power of municipal
corporations to enlarge their corporate boundaries shall apply only
as to land which is contiguous AND ADJOINING to the existing
corporate area.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 19 (a) of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1955 Supplement), title "Corporations—Municipal", sub-title
"Home Rule", sub-heading "Annexation", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
19. Annexation.
(a) Legislative body authorized to enlarge corporate boundaries.—
The legislative body, by whatever name known, of every municipal
corporation in this State may enlarge the corporate boundaries there-
of as in this sub-heading provided; but this power shall apply only
as to land which is continguous AND ADJOINING to the existing
corporate area.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 22 (a) of
Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selection of Jurors",
providing for an increase in the compensation of jurors in Somerset
County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 22 (a) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
22. Pay and mileage, (a) Jurors in Anne Arundel and Washington
counties shall receive six dollars per day, in Dorchester County, seven
