CHAPTER 517
(House Bill 12)

AN ACT to add new Sections 332 through 341 339 to Article 66½ of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Motor Ve-
hicles", to follow immediately after Section 331 thereof, and to be
under the new sub-title "Drivers' Schools", generally licensing and
regulating drivers' schools in this State, and the employees and
instructors thereof.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 332 through 341 339 be and they are hereby added
to Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Motor Vehicles", to follow immediately after Section 331
thereof, to be under the new sub-title "Drivers' Schools", and to read
as follows:

Drivers' Schools

332.    (Definitions.) As used in this sub-title:

(a)  "Drivers' School" means the business of giving instructions
for which a charge is made in driving motor vehicles or motorcycles.

(b)  "Person" includes an individual, firm, corporation, partnership
or association.

(c)  "Place of Business" means a designated location at which the
business of a drivers' school is transacted and all of its books and
records are kept.

333.     (License.) No person shall engage in the business of con-
ducting a drivers' school without being the holder of a license for
such purpose issued by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. An
application for license under this sub-title shall be filed with the
Commissioner and shall contain such information as he shall pre-
scribe. Every such application shall be accompanied by an applica-
tion fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00), which shall in no event be refunded.
If an application is approved by the Commissioner, the applicant
upon the payment of an additional fee of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00)
shall be granted a license which shall be valid for a period of one
year from the date of its issuance. The annual fee for renewal thereof
shall be Fifteen Dollars ($15.00). The Commissioner shall issue a
license certificate to each licensee, which certificate shall be con-
spicuously displayed in the place of business of the licensee. In case
of the loss, mutilation or destruction of a license certificate, the
Commissioner shall issue a duplicate thereof upon proof of the facts
and payment of a fee of One Dollar ($1.00).

334. (Refusal to issue a license.) The Commissioner may deny
the application of any person for a license if, in his discretion, he
determines that:
