(60%) of the annual salary shall be paid by the Comptroller for the

State of Maryland from general funds to the several counties and
to Baltimore City, such payments to be made to the said counties and
City quarterly. The several counties and Baltimore City are hereby
directed to levy annually such sums as
may be required to pay the
remaining [one half] forty per centum (40%) of these salaries. The
following classifications and their respective schedules prescribing a
minimum and maximum salary rate with automatic increases from
minimum to maximum, at the rate of 20% each year for a
period of
five years, shall apply to the assessors of each county and Baltimore
City:

Class A..............................[ $3,550 to $4,300 ] $6,000 to $7,500

Class B.............................. [ $3,250 to $4,000 ] $5,000 to $7,000

Class C.............................. [ $2,750 to $3,500 ] $4,000 to $5,500

Class D.............................. [$2,300 to $3,000 ] $3,500 to $5,000

In addition to the above classification, there shall be such addi-
tional class or classes, with different maximum and minimum salaries
for Baltimore City, as
may be determined by the State Tax Com-
mission after consultation with the board of estimates of Baltimore

(d) The classification of such political sub division for the payment
of the salaries of
assessors shall be as determined under Section 234
of this sub title for the payment of the salaries of the several super-
visors of assessments.

(f) In any political sub division in which the designation of cer-
tified assessment evaluator has been obtained, the salary scale for

such position shall be five hundred dollars per annum greater than

the appropriate sum designated in the schedule hereinabove in this
section. In any political sub division in which there are assistant
supervisors, the salary scale for such position shall be one thousand

dollars per annum greater than the appropriate sum designated in

the schedule hereinabove in this section. In any political sub division
in which there are field supervisors, the salary scale for such position

shall be seven hundred and fifty dollars per annum greater than the

appropriate sum designated in the schedule hereinabove in this
section.

(g) All assessors of the several counties and of the Department of
Assessments in Baltimore City shall devote full time to the discharge
of their respective duties.
The respective political sub divisions shall
provide each with the means for necessary transportation while per-

forming their duties, at no diminution of compensation.

(A) THERE SHALL BE THE FOLLOWING CLASSES OF
POSITIONS TO ASSIST THE SEVERAL SUPERVISORS OF
ASSESSMENTS IN BALTIMORE CITY AND THE COUNTIES:

(1)  ASSESSOR'S AIDE.

(2)  ASSESSORS, REQUIRING AS A MINIMUM QUALIFICA-
TION AT LEAST TWO YEARS OF SERVICE AS AN ASSESSOR'S
AIDE.

(3)   SENIOR ASSESSORS, REQUIRING AS A MINIMUM
QUALIFICATION AT LEAST FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE AS
AN ASSESSOR.
