SHORE BORDERING ON SAID LANDS TO THE OUTER LINE
OF SAID CHANNEL NEAREST SAID SHORE, SUBJECT TO
THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES RELATING TO NAVI-
GATION; AND WHERE NO RIPARIAN OWNER IS GIVEN BY
THIS SECTION THE LAWFUL RIGHT TO DIG, DREDGE, TAKE
AND CARRY AWAY SAND, GRAVEL OR OTHER MATERIALS
FROM THE BED OF SAID RIVER OPPOSITE SAID LANDS
FROM HIGH WATER MARK ON THE SHORE BORDERING ON
SAID LANDS TO THE OUTER LINE OF THE CHANNEL FAR-
THEREST FROM SAID SHORE TO THE OPPOSITE SHORE,
SUBJECT TO THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES RELAT-
ING TO NAVIGATION, THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS MAY
GRANT, FOR AN ADEQUATE CONSIDERATION IN MONEY,
AND SUBJECT TO SUCH CONDITIONS AS IT MAY IMPOSE,
TO ANY PERSON OR CORPORATION, THE RIGHT TO DIG,
DREDGE, TAKE AND CARRY AWAY SAID SAND, GRAVEL
OR OTHER MATERIALS; AND PROVIDED FURTHER, THAT
NONE OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE
DEEMED TO INTERFERE IN ANY MANNER WITH THE PRO-
VISIONS OF ANY LAW RELATING TO THE TAKING AND
CATCHING OF FISH AND OYSTERS.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THE GEN-
ERAL ASSEMBLY HERE STATES IT HAS NO INTENT IN THE
ENACTMENT OF THIS LAW TO AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF
ANY LITIGATION PRESENTLY PENDING IN THE UNITED
STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF MARY-
LAND.

Sec. 2. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 499
(Senate Bill 563)

AN ACT to authorize, EMPOWER and direct the Board of County
Commissioners of Caroline County to issue and sell serial bonds
upon the faith and credit of said County or otherwise borrow upon
the faith and credit of the County from the "General
Public School

Construction Loan of 1949", an amount which when added to any

other sums available from the State or Federal Government will
aggregate IN AN AMOUNT NOT IN EXCESS OF Three Million
Dollars ($3,000,000.00) for the purpose of building new school-
houses, the construction of additions to existing school-houses, or
altering or repairing the same, and for equipping such new or
existing school-houses, or for matching Federal or State funds for
the above purposes; to be known as the "Caroline County General
