Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 of Chapter 761 of the Acts of 1943, as last amended
by Chapter 621 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

3. All Acts and parts of Acts, whether Public General or Public
Local, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and the same
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistence; but all laws
repealed by this sub-title shall nevertheless remain in force in re-
spect to any and all tax sales made or instituted prior to the effective
date of this Act. And any and all tax sales made or instituted after
the effective date of this Act shall be made only in accordance with
the provisions hereof; provided that this Act shall not refer to
Allegany County, Dorchester County, Somerset County and Harford
County [and Worcester County] nor affect the provisions of Articles
1, 10, 13 [,] and 20 [and 24], respectively, of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland.

THERE MAY ALSO BE PAID TO THE ATTORNEY REPRE-
SENTING THE COUNTY TREASURER FOR WORCESTER
COUNTY, A FEE FOR SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH
SAID SALE, UP TO THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($35), TO BE
APPROVED BY THE COUNTY TREASURER AND COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF WORCESTER COUNTY, FOR EACH
PROPERTY, AND ALL EXPENSES OF CONDUCTING THE
SALE SHALL BE LIENS ON THE PROPERTY TO BE SOLD.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety, and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 459

(Senate Bill 236)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 5 (c),
5 (d), and 5B of Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Evidence", sub-title "Competency of
Witnesses", adding Talbot County to the counties which except
violations of the gambling, lottery and alcoholic beverages laws
from the prohibition against use of evidence obtained by illegal
search and seizure in the trial of misdemeanors.
