and Worcester counties and the city of Annapolis, such stock in
business shall be assessed at sixty per centum (60%) of such fair
average value for the twelve months preceding the date of finality.
Provided, further, however, that any person, firm or corporation who
shall take advantage of the provisions of this section shall not be
allowed the exemption in the percentage of the total assessed valua-
tion which is provided by Section 8, Sub-section (24) of this Article.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 62
(House Bill 94)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 182 of
Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Fire Departments",
said section haying been last amended by Chapter 367 of the Acts
of 1953, providing for an increased annual payment by the County
Commissioners of Garrett County to the Accident Volunteer Fire
Department.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 182 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Fire
Departments", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, to read as follows:

182. The County Commissioners of Garrett County are hereby
authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of Fifteen Hun-
dred Dollars ($1,500.00) annually to the Oakland Volunteer Fire
Department, the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00)
annually each to the Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department, the
Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Deer Park Volunteer
Fire Department, [and] the Kitzmiller Volunteer Fire Department,
and the Accident Volunteer Fire Department, and the sum of Eight
Hundred Dollars ($800.00) annually each to the Gorman Volunteer
Fire Department [, the Accident Volunteer Fire Department,] and
the Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department, so long as each of said
fire departments remains an active fire fighting organization, for
their benefit, said sums of money to be used by the said fire depart-
ments for the purchase, repair or maintenance of fire fighting equip-
ment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
