and liquor licensee shall be entitled to sell beer, wine and liquor for

consumption on the premises only, between the hours of 10 o'clock
A. M. on any day and 1 o'clock A. M. on the following day, except
that no sales shall be made between midnight Saturday and 10 o'clock
A.M. on the following Monday.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 436
(Senate Bill 495)

AN ACT to add Section 18B to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "Licenses",
sub-title "Pinball Machines", said new section to follow immediately
after Section 18A thereof, establishing a pinball licensing law for
Washington County and relating generally thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 18B be and the same is hereby added to Article 56 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supple-
ment), title "Licenses", sub-title "Pinball Machines", said new sec-
tion to follow immediately after Section 18A thereof, and to read
as follows:

18B. Licensing of free play pinball machines and console ma-
chines. (1) License required; fees; certificate; expiration.
No free
play pinball machines, as hereinafter defined, or any free play con-
sole machine, as hereinafter defined, which shall be operated or
played by the insertion of a coin or token, shall be kept, maintained
or operated for the purpose of public entertainment only within the
State of Maryland, unless a license has been previously obtained for
each such machine from the clerk of the circuit court in the county
in which said machine is to be operated or maintained. Any person,
partnership, firm or corporation applying for such license, shall pay
therefore the sum of thirty ($30.00) dollars per annum for each
free play pinball machine, as hereinafter defined, and the sum of
fifty ($50.00) dollars per annum for each free play console machine
as hereinafter defined. Each machine licensed hereunder shall have
affixed to it a certificate issued by the clerk of the circuit court of
the county in which said machine is to be operated or maintained,
showing that the fee for the current year has been paid. All licenses
shall expire on the thirtieth day of April in each year, shall be
transferable to any machine of the same type and the fee shall be
prorated monthly. All license fees collected under the provisions of
this section shall be paid to the county clerk for deposit in the
"county fund", and disbursed therefrom in the manner and for the
purposes prescribed by the county commissioners.
