54                                Laws of Maryland                         [Ch. 43

Whereas, the House of Reformation has been out of existence
for many years and it is no longer either desirable or wise to have
any reference to it in the Code, particularly in view of the fact that
the erroneous reference to Boys' Village are misleading; now there-
fore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 742 and 744 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Boys' Village", be and they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

Approved February 13, 1957.

CHAPTER 43

(Senate Bill 48)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 19 of
Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supple-
ment), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Justices of the Peace",
removing an obsolete cross reference now contained in said section
and relating to the several fees prescribed for Justices of the
Peace in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Whereas, the several fees chargeable by Justices of the Peace in
this State are prescribed in Section 19 of Article 36 of the Code; and

Whereas, this section, by its terms, is not to apply in Baltimore
City and Baltimore County and further states that as to Baltimore
City and Baltimore County, the several fees prescribed by Chapter
164 of the Acts of 1870 are to be in force and effect; and

Whereas, this reference to Chapter 164 of the Acts of 1870 is
obsolete and misleading since the several fees for Justices of the
Peace in Baltimore City are prescribed in Section 444 of the Charter
and Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edition, as
amended), and since the several fees for Justices of the Peace in
Baltimore County are prescribed in Section 316 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Baltimore County (1955 Edition); now, therefore

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 19 of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Justices of
the Peace", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

19. Fees of justices of the peace generally.

The justices of the peace of this State shall be entitled to receive
the fees allowed in the following table, and such fees shall be taxed
