promote the business of the County Commissioners office in said
County, and for that purpose all the provisions of this sub-title shall
be liberally construed and all powers heretofore belonging to the col-
lectors of taxes in said County and so far as the same will facilitate
the Treasurer of said County in the discharge of his duties here-
under, shall be possessed by and are hereby given to said Treasurer;
but he shall not by implication be held to possess any of the powers
of such collectors as might tend to delay him in the discharge of his
duties, or render the purpose of this sub-title more difficult

SEC 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-

clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON JUNE 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 306
(Senate Bill 372)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 555 of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Health", sub-title "Milk", correcting an erroneous cross
reference in said Section.

Whereas, in Section 555 of Article 43 of the Code there is a cross
reference to a requirement for having a permit under the State
milk law, this cross reference being to Section 530 of the same
Article; and

Whereas, it is obvious from the context that the cross reference
should be to Section 531; and

Whereas, the error occurred when this section was originally
enacted and should be corrected in order that it will not be con-
tinued in future editions of the State Code; now, therefore,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 555 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Milk", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

555. Any person convicted of violating any of the provisions
of Sections 542 to 554, both inclusive, of this sub-title, except
