CHAPTER 29
(Senate Bill 13)
AN ACT to repeal Section 132 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Practitioners
of Medicine", and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 117 to 129, inclusive, 131, 133, 135, 137, 138, 141, 142, 143
and 144 of the said Article and sub-title of the Code (1951 Edition
and 1956 Supp.), removing from State laws all reference to the
Board of Medical Examiners representing the Maryland State
Homeopathic Medical Society and thereby abolishing said Board,
relating to the qualifications of members of the Board of Medical
Examiners for the State of Maryland, selected by the Medical and
Chirurgical Faculty, providing that the Governor may, under
certain circumstances and for certain causes, remove members of
the Board, creating a Vice-President to said Board, relating to the
requirements for licensing by said Board, the recording of such
licenses, increasing the penalties for violations of the sub-title,
relating to the grounds for which a license to practice medicine
and surgery may be revoked by said Board, granting a right of
appeal to the Court of Appeals of Maryland in cases involving
revocation of licenses by said Board, removing obsolete matter
from said sub-title, and relating generally to the laws concerning
the practice of medicine send surgery in this State, and to the
examination and licensing of physicians and surgeons.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 132 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Practitioners of Medicine",
be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 117 to 129, in-
clusive, 131, 133, 135, 137, 138, 141, 142, 143 and 144 of said Article
and sub-title of the Code (1951 Edition and 1956 Supp.), be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, all to
read as follows:
117. All persons now practicing medicine and surgery, or who shall
hereafter begin to practice medicine and surgery in any of their de-
partments [, except dentistry,] in the State of Maryland, shall possess
the [qualification] qualifications required by this sub-title.
118. From and after [the first Tuesday in June, eighteen hundred
and ninety-two,] June 1,1957 there shall be [and continue to be two
separate boards] one board of medical examiners for the State of
Maryland [—one representing the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty
of the State of Maryland, and one representing the Maryland State
Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of Maryland. The members
of said respective boards in office on the eleventh day of April 1902,
shall continue to hold and exercise their respective offices up to the
first Tuesday in June, nineteen hundred and two. On the first Tues-
