voters of said City at different times; and any ordinance or ordi-
nances, submitting the whole or any part of this loan to the legal
voters of Baltimore City shall provide for the expenditure of the
proceeds thereof in accordance with the provisions of the Charter
of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, and by the municipal
agency designated in the annual Ordinances of Estimates of the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.

Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 242
(House Bill 59)

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to
issue the certificates of indebtedness of said corporation to an
amount not exceeding Five Million Dollars ($5,000,000), the pro-
ceeds of the same to be used for the acquisition, by purchase,
condemnation or any other legal means, of land or property, or any
rights therein, in the City of Baltimore, and for establishing, con-
structing, erecting and equipping buildings, structures and facili-
ties to be used by the Fire Department of Baltimore City for or
in connection with any and all of its functions and activities, and
for reconstructing, enlarging, extending, improving, renovating,
modernizing and equipping existing buildings, structures and facili-
ties of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore now being used by,
or under the jurisdiction of, the Fire Department of Baltimore City
for or in connection with any and all of its functions and activities,
on any land or property acquired under the provisions hereof or on
any land or property now or hereafter owned by the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore, and for acquiring new fire boats or
other fire fighting floating equipment, and for reconstructing, im-
proving, renovating, modernizing and equipping existing fire boats
or other fire fighting floating equipment, and for doing any and all
things necessary, proper or expedient in connection with or per-
taining to any or all of the matters or things hereinbefore men-
tioned; and to authorize said municipality to submit an ordinance
or ordinances for said purpose to the legal voters of Baltimore City.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore be and it is hereby
authorized to issue the certificates of indebtedness of said corpora-
tion to an amount not exceeding Five Million Dollars ($5,000,000),
said certificates of indebtedness to be issued from time to time and
for such amounts, payable at such periods, and to bear such rate or
rates of interest, all as the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore shall
