(h) Personal liability of Vestrymen.

No member of a Vestry shall be personally liable for a debt, con-
tract or other obligation of the Parish unless he shall in writing
assume personal liability therefor.

288H. POWERS, DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS OF RECTOR.

(a)  Possession of property of Parish.

The Rector shall be entitled to the use and control of the Church
and Parish buildings with the appurtenances and furniture thereof
for the purpose of his office and the full and free discharge of the
functions and duties pertaining thereto, and, unless he otherwise
contract with the Vestry, he shall have the possession and the right
to occupy and freely use the rectory and grounds thereof, and the
furniture and books therein, if any, and all glebes and other property
belonging to the Parish, and he shall be entitled to the benefits
thereof during the time he shall officiate in the Parish as Rector.

(b)  Use of property by Rector.

In his use of the property of the Parish the Rector shall exercise
the same care that an ordinarily prudent person would exercise in
the care of his own property.

(c)  Entry of vital statistics in Register.

The Rector shall make, or cause to be made, all entries of baptisms,
confirmations, marriages and burials in the Parish Register pursuant
to the provisions of Section 288G (b) of this sub-heading.

(d)  Record of celebrations by non-parish ministers.

If any minister of the Protestant Episcopal Church shall celebrate
any baptism, marriage or burial in any Parish in which he is not
the Rector or perform any other official act therein, he shall com-
municate all information required by Section 288G (b) of this sub-
heading to the Rector or, if there be no Rector, to the Register
REGISTRAR of such Parish so that due record thereof may be made.

(e)  Custodian of Parish Registercertificate of entriescertifi-
cate as evidence.

The Rector shall be responsible for the safe keeping of the Parish
Register.

He shall exhibit the Register at all reasonable times to any inter-
ested person, and, upon the payment of the sum of $1.00, or such
amount as the Parish by-laws may require, he shall give a certificate
as to the contents of any particular entry in the Register.

Such certificate under his hand and the designation of his official
office, with or without the seal of the Vestry, shall be received as
evidence in all State and Federal Courts within this State.

(f)  Other duties and obligations.

The Rector shall perform such other lawful acts from time to time
as may be required of him in his official capacity as Rector of the
Parish, as well as such other duties and obligations as may be required
by any general or diocesan canonical mandate.
