(Senate Bill 40)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 195 (c)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supple-
ment) , title, "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds, Game and In-
land Water Fish", sub-heading "Deer", exempting Montgomery
County HOWARD, MONTGOMERY, PRINCE GEORGE'S, SOM-
ERSET AND WORCESTER COUNTIES from the law whereby
a dog or dogs found pursuing any deer may be killed by any Deputy
Game Warden.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 195 (c) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1956 Supplement), title "Natural Resources", sub-title, "Birds,
Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading "Deer", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
195. Hunting deer.
(c) Dogs.—It shall be unlawful for any person to make use of a
dog in hunting deer and every person who takes a dog into the woods
or who has possession or control of a dog in the woods and uses
same for chasing, taking or killing a deer shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor. Any dog or dogs found pursuing any deer may be killed
by any deputy game warden of this State or any other person, pro-
vided that the provisions of this sentence shall not be applicable in
Baltimore, Montgomery and Harford HARFORD, HOWARD,
MONTGOMERY, PRINCE GEORGE'S, SOMERSET AND WOR-
CESTER counties. Except that in Caroline, Dorchester, Talbot, Kent,
Anne Arundel, Cecil, Charles, Garrett, St. Mary's, Queen Anne's,
and Calvert counties, dogs that are engaged in fox hunting and
which have broken away therefrom, shall not be liable to be killed
under this subsection.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
