General Assembly of Maryland
Note
There were 27 bills vetoed by the Governor of Maryland during
and following the 1957 session of the General Assembly. Of this
number, 12 were Senate Bills and 15 were House Bills.
Three of the bills were vetoed during the session of the General
Assembly. One was Senate Bill 64 which was vetoed on February
27, and which was passed over the Governor's veto on February 28,
to become Chapter 93 of the Acts of 1957. A second veto was of House
Bill 417, which was vetoed on March 30 and passed over the Gover-
nor's veto on April 1 to become Chapter 444 of the Acts of 1957. A
third veto was of Senate Bill 140, which was vetoed on April 1 and
which veto was sustained on the same day.
The other 24 bills were vetoed after the session had adjourned.
Ten are Senate bills and 14 are House bills. Pursuant to the pro-
visions of Section 17 of Article 2 of the Constitution of Maryland
each of these 24 bills must be referred to the House in which it
originated immediately after that House shall have organized at the
next regular or special session of the General Assembly and may then
be reconsidered as bills vetoed during the session.
