title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Hours and Days for Sale",
relating to the hours during which alcoholic beverages may be sold
in Charles County and amending the alcoholic beverages laws of
said county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 93 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Hours and
Days for Sale", be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

93. Charles County.

In Charles County, notwithstanding any other provisions of this
sub-title, it shall be unlawful for any licensee or any agent, servant
or employee of said licensee under this sub-title to sell liquors on the
Sabbath Day commonly called Sunday, nor shall any liquors be sold
by any licensee or any agent, servant or employee of said licensee
between the hours of 12 midnight, E. S. T. and 6 o'clock A. M., E. S. T.
But this section shall not prevent the sale of any wine, beer, or other
spirituous, or fermented beverages containing less than [8%] 20%
alcohol by volume on any day including Sunday, or at any time ex-
cept between the hours of 12 midnight, E. S. T. and 6 o'clock A. M.,
E. S. T. The barroom where alcoholic beverages are sold or displayed
shall be closed at midnight, E. S. T., and all bottles and containers
used in dispensing alcoholic beverages must be removed from the
tables on or before 1:00 A. M., E. S. T. Any person violating any of
the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon trial and conviction shall be subjected to a fine of not
less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than two hundred and fifty
dollar ($250.00), or may be confined in the county jail or in the house
of correction for not less than sixty days, or both, in the discretion
of the court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
