CHAPTER 117
(Senate Bill 324)
AN ACT to repeal Sections 555 to 557 inclusive of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1955 Edition), being
Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Allegany County", sub-title "Surveyor", and to repeal the said
sub-title, these sections and sub-title concerning the office of sur-
veyor of Allegany County and being obsolete.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 555 to 557 inclusive of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Allegany County (1955 Edition), being Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany County", sub-title
"Surveyor", be and they are hereby repealed, and that said sub-title
is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 23)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 57 (a) of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supple-
ment), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Administration—Regis-
tration—Titling", relating to and clarifying the law that vehicles
operating for hire over a fixed intra-state route or between fixed
termini in intra-state operations are not exempt from Maryland
registration requirements.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 57 (a) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1956 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Adminis-
tration—Registration—Titling", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
57. (a) The foregoing exemption of non-residents shall not apply
to operators of motor vehicles or motor cycles who are residents of
states which do not require the display of identification markers on
the same, nor shall it apply to non-residents, engaged in the business
of transporting persons or property for hire, wholly or partly upon
or over the public highways of this State in intra-state operations,
OR over fixed routes IN INTRA-STATE OPERATIONS, or between
fixed termini in intra-state operations; nor shall it apply to non-
residents of this State who have temporary residences in this State
