(L) ANY AREA WHICH BECOMES SUBJECT TO ANY
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT PROVIDED HEREINBEFORE, WHICH
AREA SUBSEQUENTLY THROUGH ANNEXATION OR INCOR-
PORATION IS TAKEN INTO AND BECOMES A PART OF A
MUNICIPALITY, OR BECOMES A MUNICIPALITY, IN AC-
CORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF EXISTING LAW
SHALL CONTINUE TO BE SUBJECT TO ANY TAXES OR AS-
SESSMENTS LEVIED UNDER THIS ACT UNTIL SUCH TIME
AS THE IMPROVEMENTS FOR WHICH THE ASSESSMENT
WAS LEVIED ARE PAID FOR.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-

vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a

yea and nay vote, supported by three fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the

same shall take effect from the date of its passage. SHALL TAKE
EFFECT JUNE 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 797
(House Bill 730)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 80 or
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 5. District School
Trustees", authorizing the use of public school houses and build-
ings and facilities of a College or institution of higher learning,
supported by public funds in Prince George's County AND IN
CALVERT AND HARFORD COUNTIES for religious, political
and election purposes.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 80 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 5.
District School Trustees", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

80. The county school superintendents of Maryland are hereby
authorized to enlarge the usefulness and increase the efficiency of
public school property by allowing the use of public school houses for
farmers meetings, meetings of the Farmers' Education and Coopera-
tive Union of America, grange meetings, Maryland Agriculture
Society-Maryland Farm Bureau Federation, public speakings, lec-
tures, entertainments, church festivals, Red Cross meetings, Y. M.
C. A. meetings, meetings and entertainments of the American Legion,
Veterans of Foreign Wars, United Spanish-American War Veterans
